The Urban Cruiser
The Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer is all set to enter into the sub-compact (under 4m) SUV segment in India. The Toyota's sub-4m SUV is going to be the second offering from the alliance of Toyota and Maruti after the Baleno-based Glanza.
Basically, the Urban Cruiser from Toyota is based on the Maruti Suzuki's Vitara brezza, which will probably come up with minor design changes and redesigned front bumper. The expected price of the product may be higher than Brezza as Toyota is going to offer limited variants.
The urban Cruiser is going to be the first offering of Toyota in the sub 4 metre segment in the Indian market. The vehicle is expected to launch in the second week of September and the official booking will start at the end of this month.
Design
The overall design is going to be inspired from Maruti Suzuki Vitara brezza and most of the design elements will be carry forwarded from breeze itself. The front bumper and grill alongside with newly design tail lamp will distinguish vehicle from brezza. The SUV is more likely to come up with fresh dual tone interior scheme.
Features
The SUV is going to office standard safety features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags and probably rear parking camera. The Toyota will offer LED head and fog lamps alongside with keyless entry and push-button start. The SUV will come up with 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system and other modern day comfort features.
Engine
The Urban Cruiser will be SUV made by Maruti for Toyota and hence it will powered by Maruti's K15B 1.5 litre petrol engine along with mild hybrid technology. The unit from Maruti will offer 138 Newton metres of torque and 104ps of power.
The Urban Cruiser will compete with the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and upcoming Kia Sonet.
